Voice Lessons

Welcome to my vocal studio.

I am a Seattle-based singer and voice teacher currently accepting new students of all levels.

Have you been singing in choirs for years and have vocal fatigue after rehearsals and/or performances? Maybe you have issues navigating through register breaks? Are struggling with expanding your range?

Or perhaps you love to sing but have stage fright? Afraid of performing in front of others but are drawn to the stage? Are you shy/introverted but feel the need to express yourself musically? Me too! I absolutely empathize with all of these feelings, and would love to help you work through this through song. Music is healing. It is nurturing.  It is necessary. And it is these sensitivities, our vulnerabilities, that connect us to music, which allows us to fully express who we truly are.

No matter where you are in your musical journey, I would be happy to work with you!

I work with each student individually and address their own specific needs. We are all unique and learn/absorb new information differently, and it is a welcomed and creative challenge for me to figure out with my students what personally works for them.

I study with opera singer Susan Gundunas, UC Berkeley, who studies with Jane Randolph, San Francisco Conservatory of Music. The Jane Randolph Vocal Technique has been established as a highly revered method by many respected singers, including opera singer Frederica von Stade. Additionally, I study with renowned opera singer Jordan Lorealis-Wright, an expert in the Bel Canto method. I would like to share the tremendous knowledge I’ve gleaned from these esteemed instructors with you and help you to become a better, healthier and happier singer! This technique works for any singing style to assist you in keeping the voice fresh and healthy for many years. My lessons address breath support, proper alignment, personal expression and more. I have a sensitive, positive teaching style and I will work with you very patiently and supportively. I have found so much joy from free, healthy singing and it is my goal to help you experience this same joy in your musical journey.

Lessons may address any/all of the following:

I look forward to working with you!

The voice is precious. Please be kind to it. It’s the only one you’ve got!

Testimonials from my students:

“I have been taking lessons with Stefanie for a few years now and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a voice teacher for all levels! The technique that she teaches is unlike any other!  I have grown so much with her guidance, patience and integrity. I came in thinking that I was only capable of so much. I had a belief about my voice that limited me. But her teaching has brought me to a place I never would've imagined I'd be. I'm having so much fun singing and learning! Her space allows you to come exactly as you are and her support allows for the unfolding of your authentic voice and true potential. She truly loves what she does and shares with others.”

“I met Stefanie in 2019, and before we met I decided to take responsibility for my vocal development by pursuing a suitable teacher. I've taken college vocal electives and found that I needed a focused approach. I was looking for a teacher who could communicate at my level of understanding. I anticipated a mentor who would walk me through by sharing the truth about where I was vocally. I can say it didn't happen overnight, weekly and bi-weekly lessons have encouraged me to keep in mind the process of developing my voice. Stefanie has an amazing "ear" and continues to train with her mentor as well. Personally, that speaks volumes to me. EX: "Never stop learning and applying." Currently, I am reminded of the importance of vowel, breath, and pronunciation within an Italian piece recommended by Stefanie. She's guided me through what it means to sing, and the technique she uses holds universal principles that I've seen flow into other areas of my life. I am so enthusiastically grateful for her input and support on our journey together that will continue.”

“Stefanie is a great teacher and I highly recommend her. I came into her lessons nearly a year ago as someone with no singing experience and embarrassment about the age I was starting (29). Stefanie has been consistently super knowledgeable but also absolutely positive and encouraging and she's helped me make a lot of singing progress and become more confident in my voice. I can easily hear a huge difference compared to recordings of my singing a year ago and I'm happy that I undertook this journey and even happier that I did it with Stefanie."
